Here are some questions that newcomers to hypnosis usually ask.  If the questions you wish to ask is not listed here feel free to e-mail it to me on info@carolynpotter.co.uk or fill out the form at the bottom of this page.

Q: What does it feel like to be in hypnosis?

A: Find out what it feels like to be in hypnosis. See an NCH video of a typical client discussing their experience with  hypnotherapy."

Q: Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

A; No, hypnosis is a state where you become incredibly relaxed.  If you become very deeply relaxed you would eventually fall asleep. You already know that you can wake up from a deep sleep.   You might feel a little groggy for a while afterwards, but that is very unusual.

Q; Can the hypnotist control my mind, and make me do something I don’t want to?

A: No.  Suggestion works because we want it to, and we make a conscious effort to allow it to work.  A hypnotist cannot plant a suggestion which is fundamentally alien to the client. The client would not accept it, and it would not work.

Q: Can hypnosis turn me into a supermodel?

A; Well, you never know!!! The answer however is possibly, if the raw materials are there to work on. Hypnosis can help you loose weight, help you take the action necessary to achieve your goals, and make you think and act like a supermodel, but if you are 5’ 2” and older than the Pyramids, then probably not!

Q; Is hypnosis all in the mind?

A: Of course it is!!!  It is the mind, after all, that controls the way we act and think, and you often have to treat that in order to achieve success in other areas.   Hypnosis has the ability to tap directly into the mind, which is something that medical treatment cannot do.

Q; Will hypnosis work even if I remember it all?

A: A lot of people feel that they have to ‘go under’, and later have no memory of what happened in hypnosis for the suggestions to work.  This is one of the biggest misconceptions there is about hypnosis.  It is true that on occasion people will not remember all the details of their hypnosis session, but whether they do or not has no bearing on whether they are hypnotised or not., or whether the suggestions will work. or not.
